Ask the Witch Tarot Cards is a mystical deck dedicated to famous witches, goddesses, sorcerers and magical creatures from history, mythology and folklore of different peoples. The authors of the deck are Italian writer and magic researcher Francesca Matteoni and artist Simone Pace.

The concept of the deck is unusual: each Elder Arkan introduces a certain female magical image. Among them can be found Circe, Saraswati, Joan of Arc, Babu Yaga, Hecate and Bastet. Thanks to this, the traditional tarot archetypes are revealed through the stories of strong, independent and mysterious characters.

Francesca Matteoni specializes in the history of religion, the anthropology of magic and witchcraft, European folk beliefs and the history of witch trials. Her scientific interest in magical traditions became an important basis for the Ask the Witch Tarot concept.

Simone Pace created an expressive art world of the deck, combining modern illustrations with mystical and folklore themes. Images of witches, magical animals, plants and ritual objects create an atmosphere of ancient coven, where each card seems to tell its own story.

The younger Arkans are associated with four elements - Fire, Water, Air and Earth. Witches, magical instruments and animals are distributed among these elements, which gives the structure of the deck additional symbolic meaning.

The deck is based on the Ryder-Waite-Smith tradition, so it can be used for classic layouts, while relying on individual characters and their mythological stories.
