The Pacific Northwest Tarot is a unique nature deck that transports the classic Tarot system to the wild forests, mountains, rivers, and coastline of the Pacific Northwest. Instead of traditional human characters, the main characters are the animals and plants native to this amazing region.

The deck's author and artist, Brendan Marnell, created it as a love letter to the natural world of his home. Work on the illustrations began in April 2020 and lasted exactly one year. Each of the 78 cards was given its own plant or animal, chosen to embody the corresponding Tarot archetype.

The Pacific Northwest Tarot maintains the classic 78-card structure and will be familiar to those familiar with the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition. However, instead of familiar scenes, a completely different world emerges: forest creatures, birds, trees, flowers, and other representatives of the local flora and fauna become bearers of symbolic meanings.

Each card is more than just a beautiful depiction of nature. The author selected the species for each Arcana so that its characteristics resonate with the card's archetype. For example, the Black Bear is represented on the Hermit card, the crow became the image of the Magician, and the gray foxes symbolize the Lovers. These unexpected correspondences help us see familiar Tarot meanings through animal behavior and the patterns of the natural world.

The Major Arcana are perceived here in a particularly unusual way. Instead of human destinies, a unique story of nature unfolds before the viewer. Animals and plants become symbols of loneliness, strength, choice, change, trials, growth, and transformation. Thanks to this, familiar archetypes acquire a more universal character.

The Minor Arcana are also filled with natural imagery. The four traditional suits retain their structure, but the visual language is entirely connected to the ecosystem of the Pacific Northwest. As a result, the spread becomes a unique journey through the forests and wild landscapes of the region.

The Pacific Northwest Tarot is especially expressive when read intuitively. Here, one can draw not only from the traditional meaning of the card but also from the characteristics of the depicted species: its behavior, habitat, appearance, and the personal associations it evokes.

This approach makes the deck interesting for daily spreads. One can draw one card in the morning and observe how its natural image manifests itself in the events of the day. Sometimes the answer may be related not to the literal meaning of the Arcana, but to the quality symbolized by a specific animal or plant.

The deck is perfect for questions about life's path, relationships, inner changes, decision-making, creativity, personal development, and finding one's direction. Natural imagery allows one to view complex situations with a calmer perspective—through cycles, connections, and the natural movement of life.
